In the latest developments that come in soon after the deadly and gruesome Paris attacks in which more than 130 people had lost their lives and leaving several others injured, the Belgian police have made around 16 arrests in anti-terror strikes. However, there is no clue about the whereabouts of the suspected Paris attacks gunman Salah Abdeslam, the officials have stated.
Around some 22 raids had been carried out on Sunday, across the capital Brussels and nearby Charleroi. It seemed actually quite a task for the police, but managed firing two shots at a car during one of their operations in Molenbeek, injuring one suspect who was later arrested. However in the raids that were conducted followed by the firing and arrest sessions, no weapons or explosives were found.
Brussels shall remain on the highest level of terror alert, Belgium’s Prime Minister Charles Michel had said long ago, in his statement to the media. Universities, schools, cinema halls as well as the city’s metro system are stated to remain closed. The city has also been on a ‘lockdown’ the entire weekend amidst a surging manhunt for Abdeslam, who is suspected of being among the main assailants of the Paris attacks.
The French police have asked for more details about the assailant, whom they take to be the third suicide bomber to strike the Stade de France that happened on 13th November.
