World’s biggest Internet companies like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, FaceBook, AOL have announced to fight together against the increasing danger of spam mails and phishing attacks.
In association with financial biggies like Bank of America, Fidelity Investments and eBay Inc’s PayPal, a group of 15 email providers on Monday announced the formation of DMARC.org (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance).
DMARC.org, a technical working group, will create industry standards for preventing criminals from sending out spam emails and pushing mails.
Brett McDowell, chairman of DMARC.org said, “Email phishing defrauds millions of people and companies every year, resulting in a loss of consumer confidence in email and the Internet as a whole.” “What we need is an Internet standard that allows this level of protection to work at scale – without any discussion, without any partner agreements. That is what DMARC does,” he added.
