Google X’s initial steps to the making of a self driving car

Google is the name that often comes to our mind when we think of searching something new in the internet. It has taken years, for Google to gain the goodwill of its users from all round the world. Today, Google stands for perfection and quality of the very first class. Talking about the latest project of Google, the first thing that comes into forefront is the Google Self driving car project. It has been a dream of everyone these days, to drive easily and safely on the road, without moving ahead without the occasional change of gears, occasional movements of the legs on the clutch, brakes and the accelerator and directing the steering wheels with the help of both the hands.

One can easily imagine the difficulties of learning to drive a car, with the synchronized movement of almost all the moving parts of the body. People who are not able to learn it the proper manner end up in private transports or even prefer to walk. Senior citizens, who have once been smarter in driving, find it extremely difficult to drive car in the traffic. Physically handicapped people also find driving a car an impossible thing. To solve such issues and to provide complete luxury while in a car, Google has planned to design a car that moves on its own. Never to worry about the fact that safety factors will be handled with the help of software as well as sensors.

A Google car will be a fully automatic car that starts with the help of the press of a switch. It will not be having a steering wheel, pedal for brake, pedal for accelerator or a pedal for clutch. Not to ask about the gears too. It will be a complete self driving car that will move ahead without any kind of manual intervention. People entering the car simply need to provide the destination and push on the “GO” button. The rest of the things will be handled by the car itself. You simply need to sit back and enjoy the drive.

Safety is the prime factor that the designers of this car are looking for. Hence care will be taken by them to provide sensors in the car for the single reason of removing the blind spots. With the help of sensors, streets those are busy with a lot of intersections can be handled with care. The vehicle that is being planned for testing will be modeled with 25 mph. the model will be having all the facilities for learning and they will not be meant for luxury. These cars will be small in size and will have only two seats. The seats will be provided with seatbelts. There will be a small space for passengers to keep their belongings. With the help of a start button, passengers will be able to start the car. To stop the car while moving, you simply need to press the stop button. There will be a small screen that will show the passengers the route of their destination.

Google is planning to build around hundred prototype vehicles. Safety drivers will test the cars during this summer and these cars definitely will have manual control for the testing purpose alone. A pilot program will be run in California within a few years, if all run smoothly. If technology develops, Google says that they will be partnering with other companies to bring out the technology to the world.
