The Met Gala took place early this week, and we are still not done drooling over those gorgeous dresses that took over the red carpet. Formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, it is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Every year, a theme is set and it is up to the guests to adhere by it. This year’s theme was ‘ MANUS X MACHINA’. And boy… the celebrities dressed up according to the theme! Here are the best dressed from the mega event:
- Claire Danes
She did not stick to the theme, but we are not complaining. Because, well, she had her Cinderella moment in a custom made Zac Posen creation. This sky blue gown was one of its kind, hand sewn with organza and fibre optics which allowed the dress to sparkle in the dark. With silver taking up most of the red carpet, she stood out and how!
- Emma Watson
This star has come a long way from being the frizzy haired Hermione to the gorgeous women she is today. We saw her on the red carpet in structured pants with a ladylike bustier (both Calvin Klein work). And that long, gorgeous trail literally left spectators drooling! What’s more? Her dress was made from recycled plastic bottles. Way to go girl!
- Beyonce
While her dress received mixed reaction from around the globe, we loved it. Dressed in a latex Givenchy gown with pearls, she looked absolutely regal and very different from her last years look. With straight hair, smoky eyes and a matching clutch, she looked anything short of flawless. The Queen can hardly do anything wrong and we stand by it.
- Lupita Nyong’o
She just goes from one event to another looking effortlessly beautiful. Dressed in a shimmering green Calvin Klein design, she opted for the ‘less makeup’ look. The diamond bracelet and earring ended the look and her hairdo was definitely the cherry on the top.
- Karlie Kloss
A hip bone bearing, heavily cutout white dress and add Karlie Kloss to that and you get a vision in white! Her hair was pulled back, giving away her beautifully carved face. If all of this was not enough to make us swoon, the pop of bright red on the lips left nothing to not like.
- Kim Kardashian
If you want to stick to the theme, do it like Kim Kardashian. Dressed in an all-silver gown by her favorite Balmain, this sparkly dress was on point. With sleek hair, gothic eye makeup and an ear cuff on the same sparkly shade, she looked as if she was shining bright.
- Kylie Jenner
The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan really knows how to make it big on the red carpet. Taking inspiration from her elder sister, she opted for an all-silver Balmain gown with sheer panels and cutouts. She went with shorter hair, nude lips and smoky eyes. She might be the youngest, but her fashion is definitely as good as the others.
- Naomi Campbell
She knows how to dress like she is attending the party of the year. Wearing a black silk lace crop top and skirt combo by Roberto Cavalli, she looked like a goddess. Black cuffs, diamond earrings, beautifully done make up and of course, her natural charm. Could she possibly do anything wrong?
Amongst the many beautiful ladies who graced the red carpet, Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner, Rita Ora, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid looked absolutely fantastic!
