The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the central government to do away with subsidies to Haj pilgrims.
The Apex court advised the government to abolish the Haj subsidy policy gradually in next ten years. It also advised centre to reduce government representative number to two persons for Prime Minister’s goodwill delegation to Haj.
“We hold that this policy (giving subsidies to Haj pilgrims) is best done away with,” the Supreme Court said.
