Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu sought support of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to develop new IT hub in Anantapur.
“The idea is to have at least one or two large global software companies like Microsoft so that we can start attracting others fast,” Palle Raghunath Reddy, the information technology minister of Andhra Pradesh told Economic Times.
Incidentally Anantapur is Satya Nadella’s hometown and Naidu assured him of all kind of supports to bring a Microsoft plant in Andhra Pradesh.
Known as the business-friendly chief minister, Naidu is largely responsible in making Hyderabad a major technology hub in India.
Since he took over the new government in Andhra Pradesh after the state division, Naidu is focused to create another ‘Hyderabad’ in Seemandhra. With adequate land, infrastructure and proximity to Bangalore – Anantapur has been emerging as the best possible place to develop an IT hub in the state.
Andhra Pradesh badly needs few anchor clients such as Microsoft so that the state can go ahead and lure more players,” JA Chowdary, industrialist and Naidu aide said.
Rajiv Vaishnav, the vice-president of Nasscom, said Naidu’s credibility as a leader will give him extra mileage in seeking relationship with global companies.
“Companies know that here is a doer. Given an opportunity or invitation by him, global players are more likely to consider it following necessary analysis,” Rajiv Vaishnav said.
