Udta Punjab was earlier in news due to its casting as Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan will be teaming together for a film after their last venture ‘Jab We Met’ released 8 years ago.
Now, Alia Bhatt, who is also a part of the same film and will be seen opposite Shahid, has confessed that this role will bring about a watershed change in her acting journey. In her earlier films, Alia had one common trait- most of her films showed her as a fashion chic or rich bratty girl or a lively, vivacious one, but Udta Punjab holds a different package for her giving her career a complete turnover.
She considers this upcoming film has the greatest risk she has ever taken, and thinks the role to be the most challenging one.
She recently shot for the debut edition of Miss Vogue and during its launch event recently, she said, “The film that I am doing right now (‘Udta Punjab’) is a big risk that I have taken so far in my career.
I still can’t talk about the film, but it is definitely the hardest film, hardest character that I have played till date.”
Not so confirmed, but she could be seen playing the role of a hockey player because she shared a picture of hockey stick on Instagram a few days ago, calling it her ‘new friend’.
The Film is set in Punjab, having a realistic sphere as it focuses on the drug addiction, its growth, trafficking issues and strategies associated with it.
What we can do is, wish Alia for this different role of hers and hope that she succeeds in bringing out its essence to change her old Bollywood image.
Helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, the movie also marks the debut of Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh.
