Justin Bieber hopes Anne Frank would have been a ‘Belieber’

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber landed in a soup of controversy!

Last weekend Justin Bieber visited a museum in Amsterdam dedicated to Anne Frank, the-15-year old Jewish Holocaust victim who died at a Nazi concentration camp in 1945. In the guestbook there Bieber wrote he wished Anne Frank would have been a “belieber”, a popular nickname for his fans.

“In our guestbook he wrote: ‘Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber,'” the museum said in the Facebook post.

Social networking sites were filled with outrages comments against Bieber. His ‘belieber’ comment at the museum was received as “self-serving” and “tasteless”.

The museum on Monday, however, came forward in Bieber’s defense.

“His comments were quite innocent. He was here for more than hour and interested in Anne Frank’s life and that for us is the most important thing,” said a spokesperson for the museum.
