The Interview is a 2014 American comedy based on political rivalry between North Korea and the US. Sony Pictures ‘The Interview’ has a fictional plot where-in North Korean leader Kin Jong-UN is assassinated. North Korea accused the U.S. of shutting down internet service to the country in retaliation for its alleged hacking attack on Sony, and referred to President Barack Obama as “a monkey” in blaming him for the release of “The Interview.”

“The United States, with its large physical size and oblivious to the shame of playing hide and seek as children with runny noses would, has begun disrupting the Internet operations of the main media outlets of our republic,” the statement said, adding, “Obama always goes reckless in words and deeds like a monkey in a tropical forest.”

North Korea categorically denied its involvement in the cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment, as the FBI has claimed. North Korea also accused the U.S. of orchestrating the internet outages that occurred in the isolated country this week.

The movie seemingly has further created tension between the two countries.

The Plot-

The film started with Seth Rogenand and James Franco. The duo has earlier worked in many movies together, including the more recent “This is the end” and also hit teen comedy movies like “Knocked Up (2007)” and “Tropic Thunder (2008)”.

Movie ReviewThe Interview

Dave Skylark (James Franco), a passionate Lord of the Rings fan, citing example of the story and naming others from the characters of Lord of the Rings, was a television host of a popular show “Skylark Tonight” with Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) who was the director of the show. On the party of 1000th episode of the show, Aaron had realised despite being so popular in media they were not covering any real news. Things like exposing homosexuality of famous rap star Eminem and other celebrity scandals were not a satisfying enough being in the media. During that time the duo came to know that North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un was very fond of the show. They offered him to be interviewed. “Sook ”an North Korean women General and right hand of Kim would meet Aaron in China in a deserted place and inform about the acceptance of the interview by Kim. Skylark informed his viewer about the interview. Other talk shows made fun of him. The duo Skylark and Aaron was approached by CIA and they had asked them to assassinate Kim in the process of interviewing.

The duo then stepped into North Korea and the dictator had manipulate Skylark to think him as a very good person and Skylark did not want to kill him anymore. But soon he realised that he was misguided. Sook, who got close with Aaron, confessed that the dictator has harmed the nation and asked them to unmask him in the interview as that it would be the true death of the dictator and dictatorship in North Korea. Accordingly Skylark had unmasked the leader and Kim shot Skylark but he got saved by bulletproof jackets. Later they tried to leave North Korea on a tank. Kim attacked them from a helicopter but got killed by a missile fired from the tank.

The Interview Review
North Korea got free from the dictatorship. Skylark and Aaron received accolades from everywhere. Skylark wrote a book describing the incident.

The lead characters were funny, like most of their films their comic timing was almost perfect. There was not much into the story; however the lead duo had played their roles well. It is quite entertaining. Directors Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen managed to made the audience laugh in a controversial topic. An amusing vulnerable side of North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un was shown in the film. The attempt to have a happy ending was a let down, the end could have been better. But controversies did help the movie to be big even though it does not have a legal release outside US.
