It’s not the Lunchbox or the Madras Café. The movie that made it to the Oscars this year from India officially is The Good Road. And, its official – Gyan Correa’s debut Gujarati movie The Good Road is nominated as India’s official entry to 2014 Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category.
The movie is produced by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). It stars Keval Katrodia as seven-year-old Aditya who loses his way in the desert. Sonali Kulkarni and actor Ajay Gehi are being casted as the kid’s parents in the movie.
The story of three individuals on a highway, The Good Road, widely shot in Kutch district in Gujarat, had clinched the National Award for Best Feature Film (Gujarati) in 2013.
So, far only three Indian films have reached the nomination stage of the Academy Awards from India namely, Mehboob Khan’s Mother India (1957), Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay (1988) and Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan (2001). But, none of them made the game.
