‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ is simple, endearing and heart-warming movie. It’s a much awaited comic relief for me from the stereotypes. This unconventional Bollywood mid-age love story brings lots of freshness and wit. Debutant director Bela Bhansali Sehgal deserves a round of applauds for attempting to make a sweet out-of-the-box movie.
The movie Sets against the backdrop of the Parsi community. Farhad (Boman Irani) a 45 year-old Parsi bachelor, who lives with his mother and grandmother, is a lingerie salesman. In nature he is very honest, shy and sweet. Shirin (Farah Khan), 40, is an energetic single woman who lives with her father and aunt. The day Shirin enters Farhad’s shop, the fate seals. Farhad instantly falls in love with Sirin. Bella beautifully captured the charming courtship and encounter with the families.
Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is not flawless though. It is a sweet attempt but stretched too much in the second half with unnecessary plot. The songs are not up to the mark and few of them proved to be pain. Although there are some loopholes in Bella’s brother, Sanjay Leela Bansali’s script, however time to time he able to produce some brilliant moments in the script which keeps charm the audiences.
Boman Irani was brilliant as Farhad. It is surely his one of the best performance so far. Choreographer turned filmmaker, Farah Khan made her acting debut with this movie and it was the perfect. As shirin she was superb! The chemistry between the lead pairs was awesome. Daisy Irani, (Farhad’s mother) successfully portrays typical Parsi mother. It was nice to see veteran Shammi’s performance as Farhad’s granny.
All in all Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is a heartening nice romantic-comedy which makes audiences smile and laugh. ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ at the end of the day is worth a watch.
