Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’, Abhishek Kapoor’s latest directorial venture ‘Kai Po Che!’ is a story of emotional bonding between three best friends in the time of destruction.
The story is set in Ahmedabad against the backdrop of 2000s, where three childhood friends Ishaan (Sushant Singh Rajput), Omi (Amit Sadh) and Govind (Rajkumar Yadav) try to make a successful career and pursue their dreams. Their bonding though tested through the times of 2001 devastating Gujarat earthquake and the 2002 notorious Godhra riots. Kai Po Che! is the story of love, friendship and dreams as well as emotional struggle and meeting your inner quest.
Abhishek Kapoor deserves applause for sensible handling of a sensitive issue and making a fine balance between emotion and compassion. Abhishek also deserves congratulations for not following any run-of-the-mill Bollywood friendship movie. Earlier, in 2008, he made Rock On!! which was again a movie based on friendship but Kai Po Che yet so different from that and fresh. We look forward to his next movie.
Popular TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput made his debut as Ishaan and he has brilliantly executed his role. Amit Sadh as Omi did justice to his role. But the most remarkable performance came from Raj Kumar Gupta who plays Govind. Amrita Puri was lovable. Amit Trivedi’s shooting music and Hitesh Sonik’s background music adds depth to the story.
At the end Kai Po Che! is a nice film to watch.
