In a culture-bound India, a big deal was made out of the love marriage concept initially and people would find it hard to accept it. But with time the mindsets changed and people slowly started accepting and acknowledging it. Although the concept of love marriages has settled to an extent, eyebrows are often raised when it comes to ‘inter-state marriages’.
Some rigid parents hesitate or find it against their “morals” to let their children tie knots to someone belonging to another state, despite the nation being the same.
This concept has been brought into limelight by Zee Marathi, which recently launched the serial Kahe Diya Pardes. Yes, the title itself sounds unique and, believes us, so is the story-line.
Amidst all antagonism, the channel decided to take up this issue and showcase the essence of it to its audiences.
Ever since the serial has commenced its popularity graph is elevating day by day.
It portrays the story of a North Indian boy, ShivKumar Shukla (Rishi Saxena), who hails from Uttar Pradesh, but is forced to shift to Mumbai due to occupational circumstances. He meets Gauri Sawant (Sayalee Sanjeev), his neighbor and a typical middle class Maharashtrian girl, in Mumbai, who has a simple lifestyle, but enriched morals.
Now the real journey embarks as Shiv and Gauri keep bumping into each other, the misunderstandings that occur between them due to language differences, how friendship blooms which later on turns into a love relationship.
Its male lead Rishi Saxena says, “This is the first bi-lingual serial in Indian television industry, not only in the terms of characters, but the whole concept.” This out-of-the-box attempt of the channel has grabbed numerous eyeballs in a short span of time and the adorable couple and their cute chemistry is being accepted by masses. Amongst all Saas-Bahu heated sagas, something fresh like this was much needed.
Audiences of this serial have now braced themselves to witness Shiv and Gauri`s romantic love story and the predictable hostility that they are going to face from their respective families. It now remains to be seen how these two cultures mingle and the way Gauri adapts to new cultural settings post marriage.
