Iñárritu In Talks For The Jungle Book

jungle_bookAs per the reports the veteran director Alejandro González Iñárritu is in early talks to direct a live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book for Warner Bros.

Mainly known for his lyrical dramas, Iñárritu is currently working on the post-production of his upcoming comedy, Birdman, which stars Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, and Michael Keaton. And, this news, if turns up will be a major departure for the director from his past works. The story of the young boy raised in the jungle – as the plot goes, by Kipling, writeen in 1894, is part of the public domain since it was published before Jan. 1, 1923.

Disney also has a live-action Jungle Book adaptation in the works, with Iron Man’s Jon Favreau in talks to direct and a planned release date of Oct. 9, 2015. Warner Bros is yet to comment on this matter.
