Boxer Vijender Singh has denied any link with the alleged drug dealer in Punjab.
Olympic bronze medallist Vijender told CNN-IBN, “I have nothing to do with these people. I do not know how my name has come up in this matter. I do not know these people. I was in Mumbai for some work and had left my car at NIS Patiala. Nothing was found in my car.”
In a major raid, the Punjab police has recovered heroin worth Rs 130 crore from a flat in Mohali and also found Vijender’s wife’s car outside the flat. Vijender’s coach Gurbaksh Sandhu said that the car was being used by boxer Ram Singh.
Vijender Singh told NDTV, “I meet so many people, I met this guy also through somebody…but I don’t know him personally. I was in Mumbai. Maybe my friend took my car and parked it at Anup Singh’s house. He may be using my name to find an escape route.”
The Punjab Police also confired that they have found nothing in their initial inquiries which can suggest a link between boxer Vijender Singh and the drug dealer whom they have arrested on Friday.
