Veteran actress Nanda passes away

NandaVeteran Hindi film actress Nanda passed away on Tuesday morning at her residence in Mumbai. She was 75.

Nanda, who was also known as Baby Nanda, was popular lead actress in 70s. She was born in 1939 in a Marathi family in Mumbai. Her father was noted actor-director Vinayak Damodar Karnataki (Master Vinayak).

She started her acting career on 1956 in her uncle V. Shantaram’s ‘Toofan Aur Diya’. She acted over 70 films including Bhabi, Kala Bazar, Chhoti Bahen, Hum Dono, Kanoon, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Shor, Gumnaam and Char Diwari.

She won her first Filmfare award for Supporting Actress in 1960 for the film Anchal.
