Seven times Formula One Champion Michael Schumacher turns 45 on Friday while lying in come at a hospital in France after suffering serious head injuries in a ski accident on Sunday in the French Alps.
Neither the hospital nor Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm had briefed the press on Thursday on his health report but the sources informed that Schumacher’s situation is still stable following two operations to remove bleeding and pressure from his brain.
Schumacher’s former team Ferrari has organized a special birthday celebration event for his fans outside the hospital.
“In these difficult days and on the occasion of his birthday the Scuderia Ferrari Clubs want to show their support for Michael Schumacher, organising tomorrow a silent and respectful event all in red at the Grenoble University Hospital Center,” Ferrari said.
Schumacher’s family released a statement thanking fans across the world who have been praying for Michael’s speedy recovery.
“Following Michael’s skiing accident, we would like to thank the people from all around the world who have expressed their sympathy and sent their best wishes for his recovery. They are giving us great support. We all know he is a fighter and will not give up. Thank you,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, former Ferrari head Jean Todt visited Schumacher on Thursday. Schumacher’s wife Corinna along with his family members has been at his bedside since he was brought to the hospital.
