Indian Tennis star Leander Paes has lodged complaint against his former partner Rhea Pillai in Bandra family court over the guardianship of her daughter.
The 40-year-old Leander fears that Rhea Pillai with whom their 8-year-old daughter is currently living, may forcibly take her away, possibly in UK.
Leander has also reportedly filed complaint with the Mumbai police against Pillai. He had also filed a criminal petition in the Bombay High Court against 48-year-old Pillai.
Paes has alleged Pillai may caused harm to the little girl and he is concerned about his daughter’s welfare and well-being.
The Bandra police reportedly took cognisance of Paes’ application and lodged a formal complaint to investigate it further.
Pillai’s lawyer Mrinalini Deshmukh said that she was aware of Paes’s guardianship petition but not the criminal petition.
“But I have not read the petition so I am not aware of its contents; therefore I cannot comment on it,” Deshmukh said.
Last month when Paes was felicitated with the Padma Bhushan by the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, his daughter was missing by his side.
Reportedly Pillai did not allow their daughter to present at the ceremony.
Leander Paes and Rhea Pillai, former wife of actor Sanjay Dutt met in 2003. Paes was then engaged to actress Actress Mahima Chaudhry. Leander cheated Mahima and starter livein relationship with Pillai from 2005. They had a daughter in 2006.
