IPL season 8- this time with the festive and jovial tagline- India Ka Tyohar has finally approached. It is considered as one of the glorious and grand event of the year where Sports and Bollywood mingle cheerfully. No doubt, opening ceremonies of IPL tournament add more glitz to it every year where who`s who of the Hindi film industry perform their best. This year too, inaugural ceremony took place on 7th April, 2015 at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
The event delayed by hour and half due to impromptu rains. After all this and considering IPL India`s pivotal event, everyone carried great expectations that the event will turn out to be glittery where the Bollywood stars will mark their presence with stellar performances; instead, audiences witnessed some major faux pas during the live event. Saif Ali Khan hosted the program and the fact that his skills were being targeted was clearly visible when public took it to the twitter to pour out their opinions. A prolific cricketer`s son had earlier accepted that cricket isn`t his cup of tea, well, his yesterday`s hosting skills can easily compel one to say that even hosting is out of his capability. He fumbled, forgot and failed to keep viewers engrossed and intrigued throughout the show.
When the audience was already disdained, they had a little hope that at least coming performances would gratify their expectations, but all in trash! Ceremony began with music composer Pritam`s performance where he sang Rabindra Sangeet. Though this traditional selection was apt for the beginning, many were left disappointed.
Next in the line was Shahid`s efforts-involved performance for which he had been practicing since a long time; nothing in his performance was unusual or unique. As this heartthrob tweeted after his dance, “Banged the bikes, broke the stage. Felt love. Amaze.” Well, one could palpably see that he did only this bashing and smashing on stage and failed at enthralling most of the spectators from his entry itself where he tumbled down.
Many were buzzing about beautiful Anushka`s sizzling performance; she danced well to few popular Bollywood numbers but again it wasn`t worthy of remembering. Nevertheless, all Virat fanatics out there got once-in-life chance to witness him grinning and riding high in excitement while his ladylove was performing.
Finally, the most awaited performance of prolific sensation Farhan Akthar arrived, but everyone was already upset with the whole evening, as a result his performance wasn`t enjoyed and didn`t gain enthusiasm and cheering it originally deserved.
Not so awesome but still as compared to other performances of the night, one of the best performance was that of Hritik Roshan where he allured everyone with his evergreen moves and smooth choreography.
But can his single performance mend up the whole collided bridge? Surely- NOT AT ALL!
Obviously, not everyone was able to see its drawbacks, so many enthusiasts and fans praised the performances on twitter. There were mixed reviews about whose was the wonderful performance, but majority counted up in criticism polls, so here we get some tweets.
