Former Pakistani cricket captain and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party chief Imran Khan has married former BBC weather girl Reham Khan at a private ceremony in Pakistan.
Confirming the report Imran’s spokesperson Naeemul Haq said the ceremony was kept low in honouring the victims of gruesome attack at a Peshawar Army school in which 132 children were killed in December.
“It is the biggest news of the New Year for the people of Pakistan. Tomorrow (Friday), both bride and groom will distribute food among the poor and needy,” Haq added.
Imran Khan’s close friend Zakir Khan told media that the ceremony took place at 3.30 pm on Thursday at Imran’s Bani Gala bungalow in Islamabad.
The 62-year-old Imran Khan had earlier married to Jemima Goldsmith in 1995. They divorced in 2004 and shared custody of their two sons.
A divorcee with three children, 41-year-old Reham has reportedly moved into Imran’s house with her daughter.
Imran’s family was reportedly not at all happy with his decision to wed Reham Khan, even his sisters did not attend the ceremony.
