Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Prays Sanskrit ‘Shloka’ At UN Address

Former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recited the Sanskrit sloka ‘Om Shanti’ to convey her message of peace at the peace bell ceremony at United Nations in New York.

While addressing the huge crowd mostly consists of students, she advised them to sideways their egos and personal desires to discover peace within themselves.

“I am a great believer in the UN because uniting for a better world is what we all are very passionate about here. Unity takes courage, commitment and leadership,” she said. “We need to cut out our wants, desires, basic ambition to try and override each other and expand power. Only then we will be able to find our peace,” Bachchan added.

She concluded her speech with the Sanskrit mantra ‘Om Shanti’ which she describes as a “divine manifestation which we have to give birth to within ourselves.”

Aishwarya shared the dais with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, UN Messengers of Peace film maker Michael Douglas, English anthropologist Jane Goodall, Nobel Laureate author Elie Wiesel and American actress and singer Monique.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
