Notable Highlights of the Glitzy 60th Britannia Filmfare Awards

The most noteworthy and anticipated award ceremony among all accomplished on 31^st Jan, 2015 at Yashraj Studio, Mumbai in a glittery and extravagant way, this time holding the name as 60^th Britannia Filmfare Awards.

All Bollywood biggies, celebs, stalwarts as well as the who`s who of the exquisite film industry marked their presence at this renowned event.

The festive aura was adorned more with the honorable stars of the retro era, mingling with cool, trendy celebs of today. ‘Queen’ embossed its position by bagging the highest number of awards for its overall performance followed by ‘Haider’. The famous duo of ‘ Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma’, Jethalal and Daya, welcomed the guests on the red carpet and also made them take the oath to Keep India Clean (Swachch Bharat Abhiyan).

The function geared its start with Ranbeer Kapoor’s stunning dance performance.Frosting on the cake was Kapil Sharma and Karan Johar’s crisp, humorous hosting, and the two were accompanied by Alia Bhatt for a while. She confessed in a comical way that she would like to marry Kapil Sharma further stating that opposites always attract.

1)) First, let`s talk about the skillful receivers of the Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) awards, bagged by Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut respectively. Shahid Kapoor was awarded for his well-merit, realistic performance in Haider. Said the actor after being handed over the accolade by Big B,” I couldn`t have imagined it getting from a better person.

What he did this triumphant night after getting home is far more interesting. He slept with the dainty black Filmfare lady by his side, which is clear from the pic Sasha shared on Instagram and wrote, “She`s home. Time to peace on. This one`s for all you guys.” Guess, he`s super ecstatic after getting what he truly deserved for his hard work and endurance.

Kangana Ranaut achieving Filmfare Award Best Actor (Female) for her much acclaimed acting endowment, in Queen, was a no big surprise. Though the graceful actress was not able to attend the event, evergreen actress Rekha received the prize on behalf of her and gave her an unexpected surprise the same night. Expressing her ecstasy about being so lucky, acting ‘Queen’ Kangana said in an interview to Bombay Times, “In the night at 3 o` clock, Rekha ji came to my house with the award and flowers. Isn`t that amazing? Isn`t that the most amazing thing ever? I mean, I was like,’ What is this?’ Beyond awards, beyond appreciation, beyond hit and flops. I mean, I wish my parents were here so that someone could share this thrilling moment. The gesture and courtesy of Rekha ji is beyond everything. “Other than this, queen pulled five more awards for Best director, Film, Background Score, Cinematography and Editing. Such over- flowing success is worth a celebration to which the film team stood enough true.

Enough of the win-win party, let`s just shift our eyes to some interesting happenings now. The most awaited on- screen jodi of Salman and Deepika finally came together on Filmfare dais, not the least! Wearing a lovely white gown with trail, gorgeous Deepika walked towards the platform after Kapil and Karan called her. The group of four- Karan Johar, Siddharth Malhotra, Salman Khan and Kapil Sharma, performed a famous step with Deepika, dancing to the tunes of the hit song- Jumme ki Rat, making audiences laugh hilariously.

Selfie wasn’t lagging behind in showing its jalwa even on the red carpet. Celebs were seen clicking cool snaps and preserving them for posterity. Here are few pics exemplifying selfie fever among biggies:

As a part of an impromptu sequence, Kapil called a Pani Puri wala in the midst of ongoing showing. Moving among the audiences, Kapil took Pani Puri guy to actress Rekha who made Shahid eat it. Also, Madhuri Dixit, who was sitting with her hubby Dr. Sriram Nene, fed each other pani puri. Fun fact is that the graceful diva ate only half of the puri and spread a wave of laughter among onlookers. Further, Kapil asked Dr.Nene to say a romantic dialogue for his beautiful wife, and Nene unabashedly said,” Tum nai samjhogi…Kuch kuch hota hai”.

The main attraction, however, was all-time-favorite actress Rekha who rocked the event. The diva was seen chatting happily with Deepika, Ranbir, Shahid and Kapil, who managed to have a seat alongside her. Ranbir showed his special love for Rekha by flaunting the sticker of her name on his chest. Flattered….or embarrassed? Oh… her expressions confuse us!

More interesting connection between Rekha and Filmfare is that both were born in the same year. She said,“I would like to wish everyone at Filmfare for completing 60 years as we both were born in the same year.” Everyone applauded this statement of hers.

Arjun Kapoor performed to numerous hits and dedicated his whole act to Superstar Thespians like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar.
