“Holiday- A Soldier Is Never Off Duty” has collected Rs. 1.34 crore on first day, making it a decent start at the box office.
Much hyped Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Holiday was released on this Thursday, along with new movie Filmistan.
Although the makers of Holiday have spent a lot on its promotions but surprisingly the movie has opened with an average start at the domestic box office. Reportedly the performance at the multiplexes is better than single screens.
Well-know trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “Given the merits of the film, this A.R. Murugadoss-directed film should collect impressive numbers at single screens and plexes, both.”
Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty storms UAE-GCC. It’s the HIGHEST *Thursday opening* ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer.” He added, “#Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty overtakes #Housefull2 and #SinghIsKing Thursday numbers in UAE-GCC. Collects $ 226,000 [Rs 1.34 cr].”
Holiday, however, is doing much better performance outside India and especially in the UAE. Riding on positive reviews, the makers are now hoping that good mouth publicity may bring back cine-goers to watch Holiday in the weekend.
