Ever noticed the beautiful Western Ghats on your way to a nearby holiday destination? But have you ever thought that these Ghats might be hiding deep dark secrets?
Kandathil Sebastian’s Mountain Trilogy is a tell-all about tale of the atrocities faced by the tribals of the Western Ghats. A trilogy, two books of which are out in the market, the first book in the trilogy is ‘Dolmens in the Blue Mountain’. The story is set in the backdrop of the Munnar mountains that are covered with Neelgiri flowers in full bloom.
Wondering what Dolmens are and as to why they have been used in the title of the book? Dolmens are single-chambered tombs and they have been used as a metaphor to explore the meanings of life and death in the context of migrations of the Kerala’s Syrian Christian community and the struggle for survival of tribal communities in the Western Ghats mountain ranges.
‘Wisdom of the White Mountain’ follows the story of young Thomas, one of the main protagonists, who is being hunted down by powerful men, which includes a posse of people who perform black magic, consist of underworld gangsters, sleuths, extremist zealots, and sellers of spirituality. A powerless, low caste man trying to escape the thugs who were after him. The story transports one from Kerala to Mumbai, from there to Karachi, through Delhi, till you finally find yourself in the Himalayas along with Thomas as he finds his way to freedom, unearthing some important mysteries of life in the process.
The third book of the series is expected to be out pretty soon.
