Amish’s Scion of Ikshvaku all set to release this June

After the success of The Shiva Triology – comprising of The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras – Indian bestselling author Amish Tripathi is all set to release his next book titled Scion of Ikshvaku, which explores the story about Ramrajya. But, wait a minute: this is not the Ramayana Katha that you and I have grown up watching on the Cartoon Network. Amish has put his own new twist and is bringing to us the tale of Ramayana with a fresh zing and new energy.

The title itself has put people into a dilemma as to who ‘Ikshvaku’ is. Ikshvaku, as lore tells us, was the founder of the Suryavanshi dynasty. The dynasty that Lord Ram belonged to. Scion of Ikshvaku translates to ‘the descendent or the heir of Ikshvaku’. The book explores the philosophies of Ram and Amish’s own opinion of Lord Ram. The core philosophy of the book thAmishough is the presence of an ideal society – the perfect empire where Dharma prevails.

Amish has promised it to be a fast paced adventure that will span over 4-5 books which he expects youngsters to finish within a night. A lot of fans were expecting Amish’s next series to be based on the Mahabharata. However, he has given a pretty solid reason as to why he choose to go ahead with Ramayana during his interaction session at the JLF (Jaipur Literary Fest) this year. A few rude remarks about Lord Ram from a lady friend upset Amish and drove him to start working on the Ram Chandra series.

Amish, who comes from a very religious background, turned into an atheist in the 90’s, but the Shiva trilogy restored his faith in God. A very devout person, Amish went on to say that when he writes it’s like he steps into a parallel universe where all the characters seem real to him. He laughs and cries with them and senses all their emotions.

The thing that sets Amish apart from other authors is the fact that he strikes a chord with people of every age group – may it be youngsters, who hang on every word of his, or adults, who enjoy reading his books, even though he adds his own twist to it by portraying the almighty Gods as humans!

The book is being published by his previous publisher, Westland. Amazon has seen a huge rise ever since it announced that Scion of Ikshvaku is available for pre-order as paperback, hardcover and even on Kindle. The book will officially be released on 22nd June, 2015. It is expected to be translated into Marathi, Bengali, Telugu and Tamil within a year’s span. Not to forget: do check out the new trailer of the book which has a Sanskrit hymn created by Amish himself, with the help of a Sanskrit scholar.
