This is a story set on the beautiful island of Mauritius which is adorned by equally welcoming people. The author does a striking job, painting the Mauritian Cleopatra, the protagonist.
Obstinacy Dauntless Chase; is a very catchy title. It is a chase between fate, love and relations.
A tale of unconditional love and sacrifice woven with layers of self-independence bordering obstinacy- as termed by the author. Hardships in life can make one stubborn and ruthless, but can love drive you to obstinacy; is what makes one ponder?
The narration then takes the reader to the intricacies of a little girl’s relation with her mother, father & siblings; and this same little girl then grows into a fierce woman loving her child more than anybody! What transforms this innocent girl to this strong headed lady? While most women succumb silently to male-egos of their husband, why does Cleopatra chose to do otherwise? Does fate make one so helpless that, obstinacy is the only choice?
The depth of relations can either push you down or pull you up; is what I would conclude. The story is a representation of different phases of life; a child’s innocence to woman’s sacrifice!
