Brett Lee Announces Retirement From International Cricket

The 35-year-old Australian fast bowler Brett Lee today announces his retirement from international cricket which spanned almost 13 years.

Lee earlier taken retirement from Test cricket in 2010, last week he met with calf injury and forced to withdraw himself from the one-day series against England.

In an emotional speech to the reporters the injury-prone veteran fast bowler said, “It’s been a fantastic career and I’ve loved every single moment of it.  But it’s now stage two of my life coming up so I’m pretty happy and pretty excited.”

However he will continue playing Twenty20 in the domestic and in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Debut in 1999, Lee played 76 Tests for Australia and took 310 wickets. From 221 one-day international he took 380 wickets. He also collected 28 wickets from 25 Twenty20 international matches.

He was the integral part of Australia’s many win including World Cup Final in 2003.
