World’s richest author JK Rowling has hit back to the critics who attacked her for revealing Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore was a gay.
The Harry Potter author took on critics for homophobic troll and replied boldly.
The 49-year-old British author has first revealed Dumbledore’s sexuality during a program in 2007. When an audience asked if her character had ever been in love, she answered by saying, “I always thought of Dumble as gay.”
“Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was,” she added.
“I was in a script read-through for the sixth film, and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script saying he knew a girl once, [and] I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter: ‘Dumbledore’s gay!’ “she explained to crowd.
After one Frank Fraticelli attacked Rowling by saying, “once u revealed Dumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan. Nice how u blindsided us with that one. Enjoy your billion $”, she hit back and said, “I advise you to start following Brian Souter at once. He’s much more your kind of person.”
Scottish businessman Brian Scouter is known gay hater and financier of anti-gay laws.
She ended the debate on twitter by taking a cue from Dumbledore’s famous line: “I want to thank all the people tweeting me lovely messages. Don’t worry about me – to paraphrase Albus Dumbledore …”
