The Apex Court has accepted the PIL in the Delhi gang rape case and issued a notice to the Centre and the Delhi Police on Friday.
In a PIL filed by Chandigarh-based lawyer, demanding that the 17 year old juvenile accused in the notorious Delhi gang rape case should be considered and trial as an adult. It also affirmed that the mental age should be taken into consideration in this criminal case and not the biological age.
The Juvenile Justice Board which was looking into the matter will pronounce its order on January 28.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the accused had left home five years ago and his family at Badaun in UP is in shock to know that he is still alive and involved in the heinous crime like this. They strongly recommend punishment if he found guilty.
