Prashant Kishor – the man being duly credited for the grand victory of the grand alliance in Bihar, in November this year, and the BJP-led NDA government during the 2014 polls – has been approached by the Congress party’s Punjab chief Captain Amarinder Singh, who has held meetings with the strategist for his party’s victory in Punjab polls due in 2017.
However, there is still no conformation over whether Singh will be in for the Punjab elections. Amarinder told The Indian Express that the final decision on roping him in for the Punjab elections has to be taken by AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi. A source close to Singh told the same newspaper that if given a green signal, Kishor will come to Punjab to study the state and its political dynamics for which he would require 20 days.
The newspaper reported that the same source confirmed about two to three meetings having taken place between Singh and Kishor in the capital to discuss the political scenario of Punjab.
Kishor is said to have conveyed that while he finds Amarinder a “genuine” leader, who wants to “turn Punjab around”, as an outside strategist, he would need a free hand while chalking up the campaign, including a say in ticket allocation and forming alliances, The Indian Express reported.
