There are plenty of extraordinary places to see in Sikkim. Most of them are nature’s marvels; some of them are remote and esoteric Tibeto-Buddhist Monasteries. Dzongri is the region for treks. Gangtok is the capital city that now retains very few of its traditional Sikkimese elements. It is a modern hill station with every amenity you may possibly want. Although people visit to savour the marvelous temperate weather, the Buddhist past of the city also has tremendous appeal.
The visit at the Ropeway in Gantok can be refreshing. The huge structure is a good way to get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful city. Lake Tsango is considered to be very holy lake. The lake is fed by the melting snow and it is huge. The visit to Rumtek Monastery can be a glorious experience for tourists.
Gurudonmarg lake is open only for 2-3 months in a year and is one of the most breathtaking views of snow capped mountains and its reflection in the calm waters.
Sikkim is famous for its “mask dances” performed by lamas (monks) in the gompa (temple) courtyard to celebrate religious festivals
Sikkimese food is a medley of Tibetan, Nepalese and Indian influences.
If you eat what the locals ate, then you would be relishing on Maggi, Thukpa, Wai Wai Noodles, Momos and many more mouth watering preparations.
