Apple launches iPhone 6, Watch and Apple Pay

Apple has launched series of major products today at the Flint Centre for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California. In its biggest launch since Tim Cook took over from late Steve Jobs in 2011, Cook described that the company was “launching the biggest advancement in the history of iphone.” Apple launched iPhone 6, iPhone 6 plus and a smartwatch with new operating system iOS8.

The faster, thinner with larger screens, Apple iPhone 6 comes with improvised camera features and better battery lives. While the iPhone 6 Plus features 5.5 inches screen, the iPhone 6 sports 4.7 inches, much larger than its predecessors. IPhone6 also comes with barometer, which can detect changes in air pressure.

With applying new technologies, Apple also tried to take on its android rivals like Samsung, and Google by release Apple Pay – a digital wallet for iphone 6s.

Apple’s senior vice president of marketing Phil Schiller claims that the iPhone 6 and 6S have better battery life with 50% more power efficiency. The new handsets will provide 50 hours of audio playback and 11 hours of video watching.

Runs on A8 processor which claims to be 25% faster, the iPhones come with improved 8-megapixel cameras with fast autofocus and face tracking features. It also offers super slow-motion video recording.

Both the iPhone 6s come with three versions – 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

The company is offering 2-year contract with the phones. While iPhone 6 phone comes at $199 (16 GB), $299 (64 GB) and $399 (128 GB), the iPhone 6 Plus will cost $299 (16 GB), $399 (64 GB) and $499 (128 GB).

The iphones will be available from September 19.

Apple’s first wearable product, Apple Watch is a touchscreen device which has a ‘digital crown’ feature on the side. The smartwatch sports apps similar to the iPhone. It has many parallel features including Siri, Messages, email and Maps. Apple has integrated social networking sites like like Twitter and Facebook in the watch.

The Apple Watch comes with two new health-tracking applications which helps consumers to check heart rate and general fitness.

The Apple Watch also supports the new NFC-enabled Apple Pay feature built for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

The Apple Watch will be available in three variants: the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and the Apple Watch Edition in two different sizes – 38mm and 42mm.

The smartwatch will be available at $349 in the US.
