Prompting a paramount social change, women on Thursday morning, were permitted entry into the Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik, one of the twelve ‘Jyotirlingas’ in the country.
A group spearheaded by Vanita Gutte, along with two other women activists of the Swarajya Sangathna, were allowed to enter the temple amidst tight-lipped security.
Bhumata Ranragini Brigade’s President, Trupti Desai, who started the campaign for women’s entry to all worship places and inner sanctrums, welcomed the development and announced that she will be visiting the temple on Friday.
The breakthrough came just weeks after women were granted entry into the Shani Shingnapur temple in Ahmednagar district on April 8.
