Wee hours of Monday saw a desperate suicide bomber detonating self, near a U.S. diplomatic site in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, according to official Saudi news sources.
One of the pivotal sites catering news to the locals reported that the bomber also died in the attack. The bomber, if witnesses are to be believed, was headed in a car towards a mosque and a hospital, that share the same vicinity as the U.S. consulate.
However, most of the consulate’s staff had reportedly moved offices to a new location. Though there were no immediate deaths reported except for the bomber himself, two security guards stationed were wounded. U.S. Embassy officials in Saudi Arabia and the Interior Ministry authorities remained unavailable for their comments on the matter.
Though nobody has claimed the responsibility for the attack, it is being largely speculated to be a handiwork of ISIS, for the fact that Saudi Arabia has been a target of the terror group as it is a part of the US-led coalition against ISIS groups in Syria and Iraq.
