Saido Berahino signed a contract with his childhood club West Bromwich Albion that will keep him tied with the club till 2017. The 20-year old striker who has been an important member of the team in the ongoing edition of the English Premier League has scored 6 goals in just 10 appearances. The signing of such a budding striker could well turn out to be a decisive one as far as the West Brom club officials are concerned about their performance in the EPL.
That Berahino was going to put the pen on papers was made sure by Steve Clarke on last Thursday when he said that the under-21 English international would be signing a new contract “within the next 24 hours”. Still nothing could be confirmed until the final signing was done on Monday. The new contract for the youngster ensures his service for the club which is undergoing a building process at the moment. It will also enable West Brom to maintain a good start that they had had in the tournament.
Richard Garlick, the sporting and Technical Director of WBA said, “It was always our intention to reward Saido for the huge strides he has made over the past few months. To be able to reward one of our protégés, who has worked his way up through the ranks from the age of 11, is a great moment for the club.” He added, “It’s a fantastic story for us and especially for our hard-working academy staff, who have played a fundamental role in his development over the years.”
