Chelsea suffered a major setback in their quest of winning the Premiership title when they lost out 1-0 to middle-placed side in the table Aston Villa. Chelsea had two of their players sent off in the second half as Villa took advantage of that top score in the late minutes of the match to give Manchester City a real chance of winning the title.
Playing away from home the Blues adopted a safety-first attitude in the first half. But in the second half just when they needed a bit of impetus to push for a goal they had Willian sent off due to a soft second yellow card. This was the time when Villa began coming back into the match strongly. And in the 82nd minute of the match Fabian Delph back-heeled the ball into the back of the net to which the Londoners had no response. Then Chelsea had Ramires sent off for a stamp on Karim El Ahmadi in the dying minutes of the match. It was still not yet over for the Blues as their manager was sent off few seconds before the final whistle.
With this defeat Chelsea has given Manchester City a real chance of catching up to the top spot. Though Chelsea is holding on to the top spot for the time being with 66 points but they have got City very close chasing them with 60 points having played 3 matches lesser than that of Chelsea. The title run is spicing up as the teams gear up for the final showdown with not much left in the season.
