Manchester United’s star striker Robin Van Persie has been ruled out for at least 4 weeks due to a thigh injury, as manager David Moyes said to the reporters on Saturday. It means Van Persie will not be able to feature in ManU’s busy schedule which is coming up during the Christmas holidays.
The Dutchman, who was suffering from a groin injury, made a comeback into the starting eleven in the mid-week UEFA Champions League encounter against Shakhtar Donetsk where United won 1-0. David Moyes told the reporters, “Robin Van Persie is out for a month. He picked up a thigh strain in taking a corner kick which led to the goal “. A disappointed Moyes added, “It’s unfortunate because I think if you look at our record with Wayne Rooney and Robin in the team, it is actually very good and we have not had them for a quite a period recently.” Van Persie’s injury is certainly a big blow for the Champions taking into consideration the fact that United is trying to claw back into the title race after a poor start. This means a lot of responsibility will come on to the shoulders of Wayne Rooney who is in sublime form in spite his team’s dismal show.
