Unseeded Indian badminton player HS Prannoy won his second round match upsetting seventh-seed Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana 18-21 21-13 21-12 in the Swiss Open Badminton Championship in Basel on Wednesday.
World number 97 Prannoy took 55 minutes to beat Boonsak in three set match.
He will now face fifteenth-seed Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarters.
Earlier in the day, fifth seed Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap won his first round match and entered the second round.
“The win was okay. Actually he got tired trying too hard for points. I made it difficult for him which made him frustrated. That made it easy for me,” Prannoy told IANS.
