Sushil Kumar delights as wrestling shortlisted for 2020 Olympics

Double Olympic medallist Wrestler Sushil Kumar is delighted as wrestling won a reprieve on Wednesday and made into the IOC shortlist for inclusion in 2020 Olympics. Now wrestling is to fight battele against squash and a combined baseball-softball to get into 2020 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Five sports – karate, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and the Chinese martial art of wushu  – were eliminated  from Olympics and only one will get back to the Olympics arena.

Sushil Kumar said that it was  the first hurdle wrestling won and he is confident that the game will come back to Olympics.

“I want to congratulate the whole wrestling community for this development. It is indeed a big achievement, but it is just the first step. I am sure that we will be able to clear the next hurdle in September and wrestling will be in the 2020 Olympics,” Sushil told Mail Today.
