Narayanaswami Srinivasan has been re-elected as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for third time on a row in the committee’s Annual General Meeting. This time it was a walk in the park for Srinivasan as he was un-opposed in the presidential polls and got the chair with ease in spite of being intensely criticized from various fields on the ground of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s involvement in the spot-fixing and betting in the IPL.
However Srinivasan will not be able to take charge of his office following Supreme Court’s order which was issued on Friday in the case filed against him by the Secretary of the Cricket Association of Bihar.
Other than Srinivasan all other officials retained their position unopposed. Ravi Savant and Rajib Shukla were brought in place of Sudhir Dabir and Niranjan Shah who were removed from their posts as both of them were closely related to former BCCI chiefs. Anirudh Chaudhury, the chief of the Haryana Cricket Association was given the office of the treasurer which got vacant after Savant was elected as the Vice-President.
