Spain bows out with a win

The defending champions finally got something to show for in the FIFA World Cup 2014 as they beat the Socceroos by a comprehensive margin of 3 goals. Spain showed glimpses of their class as they outplayed Australia in their final game in the ongoing edition of the world cup.

Vicente Del Bosque brought on few changes in the playing eleven as Spain dominated the game right from the word go. But somehow they failed to find an opening in the Aussie defense. It was in the 36th minute that Spain  finally got them in the lead as David Villa put them ahead with a nice finish. Juanfran was the provider as he given the ball by Iniesta, the only Spanish player who did not deserve to be on the losing side in the previous two matches. At half time the score was 1-0 in favour of the defending Spain beat Auschampions.

There was no surprise that Spain continued their dominance over Australia and it was their ill fortune that they did not score many. However Torres made the score look more convincing as Fernando Torres scored the second goal in the 70th minute after Iniesta provided him with a perfectly weighted through ball. Mata made it 3-0 in the 81st minute as he slotted in from close range between the legs of the keeper Ryan and into the back of the net. Cesc Fabregas was the provider on that occasion.

As the final whistle went off it was curtains for Spain in the 2014 world cup despite a comfortable win in the final game. Australia who failed to register a single point in the table showed great promise throughout the three matches that they have played and bid adieu to Brazil with lots of positives.
