India’s ace badminton player Somdev Devvarman through to the second round of French Open after beating Spain’s Daniel Munoz-De La Nava in straight-set at the Roland Garros.
188th ranked Somdev will now face former world number one and current number three Roger Federer in the men’s singles second round. Federer had beaten Pablo Carreno-Busta 6-2 6-2 6-3 in first round.
Somdev got past Munoz 6-3 6-3 7-5 over two-and-a-half hours match.
Meanwhile Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Ana Ivanovic, Gilles Simon, David Ferrer, Nadia Petrova and Maria Sharapova won their first round mathes and through to the second rounds.
