Red Bull driver and four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel won US Grand Prix on Sunday with record eighth straight victory in one season. Earlier Michael Schumacher created the record in 2004 when he won seven races in a row.
“I’m speechless. We have to remember these days. There is no guarantee they will last forever,” Vettel told his teammates over radio.
The 26-year-old German driver is on high after winning the US Grand prix. “I think the moment you are not hungry anymore and are asking yourself what are you doing, it’s time to move on and do something else. I jump into the car and I just want to be fastest. It’s still there, same as a couple of years ago. Obviously it [winning races] was more the case lately than many years back, but still I think you should not allow yourself to get used to it,” Vettel said.
“I think you should never lose the passion and the joy and always remember the days when you were just dreaming of these things to happen. So, therefore, I think it’s important for all of us to just enjoy the moment. There’s more time later in our lives to realise what it meant,” Vettel told reporters.
The final race of the season will be in Brazil next weekend.
