In a huge blow to BCCI, the Supreme Court today passed an interim proposal in which the Court said that BCCI President N Srinivasan should step down till the probe into IPL spot-fixing and betting is over.
# In its three interim proposals, the Court said that Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar should be appointed as the BCCI interim president.
# SC proposed that Chennai Super King and Rajasthan Royals not be allowed to participate in IPL 7.
# The Court also said that any person related to India cements should not be allowed to function in BCCI
Earlier in the day, Harish Salve, the lawyer for petitioner, has said that Indian team captain Dhoni gave false statement to the Justice Mudgal committee. He said Dhoni is an employee of India Cements which leads to a conflict of interest.
Harish Salve said MS Dhoni guilty of corrupt conduct and gave false statements to the committee over Gurunath Meiyappan. Salve sought Chennai Super Kings’ suspension from IPL.
The bench came heavily on the BCCI today and said, “The allegations are so serious and are of such nature that BCCI cannot be entrusted with the investigation any more. We will not like to damage anyone. But we are of the firm opinion that if the (BCCI) president does not step down, no fair investigation can take place.”
The Supreme Court will pronounce its final verdict tomorrow.
