If reports are to be believed then batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar would be asked to quit after his 200th Test. Mumbai Mirror has reported the news quoting some sources in the BCCI.
The newspaper claimed that BCCI has decided to ask Sachin to retire after 200th test and they have even selected the person who will convey the message to Tendulkar.
“Impeccable sources within the top echelons of the board confirmed to this newspaper that Sachin Tendulkar, who has given no indication of any plans to hang up his boots so far, will be asked by board officials to step down and make way for newer talent. It has also been decided exactly who it will be who will convey the message to Sachin,” The Mumbai Mirror report says.
“However, given the flux within the BCCI at present – N Srinivasan who was this week elected as board president has been asked by the Supreme Court to not to act as president – the name of the messenger has not been publicly divulged,” it further added.
Mumbai Mirror quoted a BCCI official who said, “His batting frailties have become too stark to ignore. He could not face a bowler like Monty Panesar in home conditions. He was further exposed in the series against Australia.”
Tendulkar will play his 200th Test match against West Indies either in Mumbai or Kolkata.
