Wayne Roney makes up his mind to stay back at Manchester United after deciding not to respond to Jose Mourinho’s call to push for his transfer ‘within the next 48 hours’.
After Chelsea’s two bids of £20 million and £30 million for the 27-year-old talismanic striker was rejected by United, speculations of Rooney placing an official transfer request became loud. However, after Monday night’s eye-catching performance, perhaps his best for the club in over a year, it is quite clear that United is going to retain their priced forward for this season.
Mourinho’s exasperation regarding Chelsea’s failure to bring Rooney to Stamford Bridge was clearly evident as he urged the played to stay clear about his intentions. Following Monday night’s encounter betweenthe two teams, Mourinho said “We are going to close another player if he is not coming… I want to close another player. How long will we wait? 24 hours, 48 hours.” On questions of any possibility of Chelsea bidding for a third time for the player, Mourinho remarked, “We have to speak, but I think this club(United) must be a very special club…In every club in the world, when a player wants to leave, they don’t support him.”
