Real Madrid took a giant leap forward in their pursuit of winning the UEFA Champions League title for a record 10th time when they beat the defending champions quite comfortably by a scoreline of 4-0 in the second leg. Overall the aggregate read 5-0 in favour of the Spanish giant.
Coming into the second leg with a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu, Bayern Munich was very much in the match until the first goal scored by Real in the 16th minute of the match. Ramos headed in powerfully on the 16th minute from a Luka Modric corner to give Real an upperhand in the match as well as in the tie.
4 minutes later Ramos made it 2-0 on the night with a diving header as Bayern’s dream of winning the European title on two occasions consecutively started to fade away. It was as good as over when Cristiano Ronaldo slotted home the third one of the night in the 34th minute of the match. Trailing 3-0 after the first half, Bayern was totally done and dusted in the match.
The second half presented some scrappy football from both teams as there were not too much of opportunities for either team. Only one came in Real’s way when they got a free-kick from striking distance and CR& made no mistake to double his tally on the night as Real Madrid routed the defending champions 4-0 in their own backyard.
It was a perfect night for Carlos Ancelotti as his team did it without much ado and the kind of form they are in, the fans can really think of something special this year. The only thing that will keep Ancelotti a bit tensed is the unavailability of midfielder Xabi Alonso due to booking as he was rightly booked for a poor rash tackle on one of the Bayern players. Otherwise things panned just in the way Ancelotti would have dreamt about. Real will face either Chelsea or Atletico Madrid in the final at Lisbon on 24th May.
