India’s new badminton sensation PV Sindhu lost her semi-final match at the World Badminton Championship on Saturday.
Thailand’s Ratchanok Inthanon beat PV Sindhu 10-21, 13-21 in women’s singles semifinal in Guangzhou. Sindhu now settles with bronze.
Sindhu had created history on Friday when she defeated China’s Wang Shixian 21-18, 21-17 in the quarter-finals and becomes the first Indian women to reach in the women singles semis of World Badminton Championship.
Previously India had won two bronze medals from World Championship. In 1983, Prakash Padukone won that in men singles and the doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa won bronze in 2011.
