Mike Hussey opened up against his Chennai Super Kings team owner N Srinivasan and his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan yesterday. In his book Underneath the Southern Cross, Hussey accused Gurunath of running the team and enjoying total control over all the team issues on and off the field.
In this book, the Australian southpaw, who has been an important member of the team since the opening edition of the IPl, said that Srinivasan, owner of CSK, handed over total control to Gurunath in spite of regarding him as just a ‘cricket enthusiast’. Hussey said, “Our owner was Indian Cements, headed by Mr.Srinivasan… As he was also the President of the BCCI, he gave control of the team to his son-in-law Mr.Gurunath. He ran the team with Keplar Wessels, who was the coach”.
This controversial comment on behalf of Hussey could well bring fresh troubles for N.Srinivasan who is already facing a court order of not attending the office of the President of the BCCI despite getting re-elected in the Annual General Meeting held on last Sunday. Whether these comments turn out to be decisive in the case running in the Supreme Court we will find out in the next few days.
