A large trouble looming for BCCI chief N Srinivasan as the Justice Mukul Mudgal Panel has indicted his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in IPL spot-fixing scam.
According to the Supreme Court directed Mudgal committee report, former Chennai Super Kings team principal Meiyappan was involved in betting and spot-fixing in IPL matches. The report accused Meiyappan of sharing confidential information to the bookies.
The report has also said that further probe is needed over Meiyappan’s involvement in spot-fixing in IPL along with Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty who are also accused of betting and match-fixing.
Justice Mudgal report has also raised critical questions on Srinivasan’s conflict of interest as the BCCI boss and owner of Chennai Super Kings and sought answers from both BCCI and India cements which is N Srinivasan’s company and principal owner of Chennai Super Kings.
The Mudgal committee report is based on the intense investigations conducted by the panel after meeting players, journalists, team owners, police, anti-corruption unit personnel and various other stakeholders around the country for the last four months.
“We spoke to a wide array of personalities in society,” Justice Mudgal told media.
“Including top cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly and others. We have recorded every bit of information that we have received.” Report says.
